BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE
This committee was started as an ad hoc committee in 1998 where members began raising funds for the 200th birthday celebration which will be held in 2008. In 2005, the ad hoc committee disbanded and the Selectmen appointed the following committee to continue the work of planning and raising funds for this important milestone celebration.

PLAY
A town-wide mailing was recently sent out. Upcoming events include tryouts for the play “Ancestors in the Attic” have been scheduled for December 1, 10:00am at Mallett Hall. We are looking for volunteers as actors, lighting staff, set construction workers, photographers, musicians, costumers, and more! Sign up by dropping off your volunteer form at Mallett Hall. Lost your form? There are more at Mallett Hall, stop by and sign up to help with this exciting event!

BICENTENNIAL MUGS
This limited edition series of Pownal mugs have been selling well, but don’t wait until the last minute to get yours! They can be purchased at Town Hall for $8 a piece, of $15 for 2 mugs.

POWNAL HISTORY BOOK
The Pownal Scenic and Historical Society has been working hard on this exciting Pownal history book – watch for the sale of these books at upcoming Bicentennial events.

DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS
If you haven’t yet contributed but would like to, you can mail your donation to the Town of Pownal, P O Box 95, Pownal, ME 04069 or drop it off at Town Hall. Checks should be made out to Pownal Bicentennial Fund. Also, we invite businesses to consider the sponsorship of one of the many events being planned. FMI, contact Kath 688-4153.
