Mission

The mission of the Public Works Department is to plan and to use our resources wisely; to improve the quality of life through maintenance and protection of the Town’s infrastructure and natural resources. The Public Works Department will strive to be a respected, well-managed, and financially prudent department. “Public Works in the Public Interest.”

-To provide a safe and reliable roadway system that is most efficient with available funding;

-to provide quality service by striving to provide maintenance levels necessary to achieve public satisfaction; and

-to ensure that projects will provide functional and economic benefits through responsible expenditure of funds.

SUMMER 2009

I would like to extend my thanks on behalf of the Public Works Department to everyone who attended Town Meeting on June 15th and supported the Public Works Department Budget.

The following is the short list of some of the upcoming projects we will be working on this summer:

Reconstruction of Royal Road

Reconstruction of a section of Lawrence Road

Drainage improvements and maintenance overlay on the Merrill Road

Drainage improvements on Poland Range Road, on the paved section and the section near the Freeport town line

Asphalt surface on Allen Road

Aside from these larger projects, we will also be working on our normal maintenance projects such as grading, pothole patching, roadside mowing, and sign replacements and upgrades.
