Welcome to Pownal, Maine

Pownal is a town in Cumberland County located between the towns of North Yarmouth, Freeport, Durham and New Gloucester. Pownal was settled in 1680 and incorporated on March 3, 1808, from a portion of Freeport. Currently, Pownal has a population of about 1,500.

The rural character of Pownal offers residents and visitors many recreational opportunities. Bradbury Mountain State Park is located in Pownal and offers picnicking and a modest walk to the summit giving hikers a vista view of the surrounding area.
