Town Meeting Information - June 19, 2021

The Pownal Select Board has voted to hold a “regular” Town Meeting this year. The consensus was based on the need for discussion with the Town in matters of purchases, expenditures, and policy. The Board weighed the expediency and convenience of a Secret Ballot Town Meeting against the transparency and ability to debate and amend that accompanies an Open Town Meeting.

 

The Town Meeting is scheduled to be held at the Pownal Elementary School on June 19th starting at 10:00 am.  We will have a seating plan in place to allow for social distancing. In addition, we will be following Maine CDC guidelines. Currently masks are not mandatory outside, however we will provide separate seating for residents who want to sit with other masked residents. We are hoping that everyone will have understanding and respect for each other’s’ choices concerning masks.

 

The Town Warrant is available on-line at the Town Website. Paper copies will also be available at the Town Office and at the Town Meeting. The annual town report will be available at the meeting. I urge you to familiarize yourselves with the Warrant and ask questions of the Select Board before the Town Meeting to become informed citizens.
