Spring Road Postings in Pownal Maine
TOWN OF POWNAL SPRING ROAD POSTING
PURSUANT TO TITLE 29-A SECTION 2395. WAYS REQUIRING SPECIAL PROTECTION.
The Town of Pownal will be posting all town roads to heavy loads this spring. The posting will begin February 17, 2026 and continue until May 1, 2026, dependent upon weather.
It will be unlawful for any vehicle exceeding the gross weight of 23,000 pounds to pass over the following designated and posted town ways UNLESS SOLIDLY FROZEN. A roadway is considered "solidly frozen" only when the temperature is 32 degrees or below and no water is showing in the cracks of the road (if paved) or there is less than ½ inch of thaw on the gravel surface (if gravel). To be determined only by the Road Commissioner or his / her designee. Any vehicles exceeding weight limits traveling during this period must have written permission from the Road Commissioner or his / her designee unless other arrangements have been made.
