Employment Opportunity - Town Administrator
Pownal, Maine is seeking a creative, energetic individual with demonstrated organizational skills to serve as its next Town Administrator. This is a full-time position that requires a visionary leader who can support and mentor both experienced and newer staff and continue to build upon the existing foundation of providing quality community facilities and services, which is vital to maintaining the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
Pownal,(approximate population 1600) is a dynamic community located in Cumberland County with an area around 22 square miles that includes an extensive network of state parks (Bradbury Mountain) hiking trials and dirt roads that create a rural atmosphere. Situated between Portland, Brunswick and Lewiston, Pownal’s thoughtful planning process has preserved the unique character of Pownal, creating a community based approach to future development.
The Town has an operating budget of approximately 5.5 M. Educationally, Pownal is part of an excellent school system, RSU 5, which includes Freeport and Durham. There are 5 full time employees that work directly with the Town Administrator. The Town Administrator collaborates with a three person Selectboard, managing budgets and policies.
The Town Administrator should relish working closely with staff and townsfolk. The office is small and relationship oriented.
