Road Commissioner / Public Works Director
The Town of Pownal has a full-time job opening for a Road Commissioner/Director of Public Works in our Public Works department. This position is responsible for, but not limited to planning, directing, implementing and supervising all programs and activities of the department. This is a department head position reporting directly to the Select Board.
Applicants must possess a Class B Maine drivers license. In addition, experience with operation and maintenance of excavators, graders and front-end loaders is preferred. A minimum of 2-3 years supervisory and winter road operations is required. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of all paved and unpaved roads and the supervision of 3 full-time and 1 part-time employee. A pre-employment physical and CDL drug and alcohol screening is required prior to a job offer.
The salary range is based on experience and will range between $65,000-$75,000. The Town of Pownal offers a generous benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 457B, paid time off and paid holidays. The base schedule consists of four – ten hour shifts Monday through Thursday with the exception of winter months or emergency situations.
