Boats, ATVs, & Snowmobiles

Boat, ATV, and Snowmobile Registrations may be purchased at the Town Office or done online. 

boat Boat Registrations   

Boat registrations expire December 31st. Registrations for new boats and renewals can be done at the Town office or online at Boat Registration Renewal Online Service (maine.gov). There is a state mandated “Milfoil Sticker” for all boats that are launched in Maine lakes and streams. It is now a part of the yearly sticker issued to all boats registered in Maine.  This is to help defray the cost of eradicating Milfoil from lakes and streams that may have come into Maine on boats from other states. 

If a boat is used in salt water only, a Milfoil sticker is not needed.  The Milfoil fee for Non-residents is $20.00.  Registration fees for Boats with Milfoil stickers are:  

  • Boats with motors 0 to 10 HP are 25.00 plus excise tax.
  • Boats with motors 11 to 50 HP are $30.00 plus excise tax.
  • Boats with motors 51 to 115HP are $36.00 plus excise tax.
  • Boats with motors over 116 HP are $44.00 plus excise tax.
  • Personal Watercraft (i.e. Jet Skis) are $44.00 plus excise tax. 

There is a $1.00 clerk's fee on all renewal registrations and $2.00 on new registrations. Duplicate registrations are $1.00 plus $1.00 clerk fee. If stickers are needed with the Duplicate the total cost is $2.00 plus $1.00 Clerk fee.

 

  ATV Registrations

ATV registrations expire June 30th. Renewals can be done at the Town Office or online at https://apps1.web.maine.gov/online/atv_snow/index.htm 

The registration fee is $70.00 plus $2.00 clerk's fee on new and $ 1.00 clerk's fee on renewal registrations. Duplicate registrations are $4.00 plus $1.00 clerk fee.  If stickers are needed with the Duplicate the total cost is $5.00 plus $1.00 Clerk fee.

 

 Snowmobile Registrations

Snowmobile registrations expire June 30th. Renewals can be done at the Town Office or online at https://apps1.web.maine.gov/online/atv_snow/index.htm

The resident registration fee is $55.00 plus $5.00 clerk's fee on new and renewal registrations.  Duplicate registrations are $1.00 plus $1.00 clerk fee.  If stickers are needed with the Duplicate the total cost is $2.00 plus $1.00 Clerk fee.   Non-resident fees are $75.00 to $120.00 based on by length of registration. 

 

Documents Needed To Register or Transfer a Registration

To register a new-to-you item you will need:

    • a Bill of Sale or Dealer's Certificate,
    • the serial number or identification number,
    • Year, make and model
    • length (if a boat)
    • Horsepower of the motor (boat)

To transfer a registration you will need: 

    • the registration to the ATV, boat, or snowmobile that you sold or traded for the new one.
    • a Bill of Sale showng the year, make, serial number and the name and address of seller (if private sale) or 
    • a dealers certificate if purchased from a dealer.
