Public Works

Our Road Commissioner is appointed by the Select Board. The position oversees the Public Works department and all aspects of the maintenance, repair and upgrades reconstruction of our roads. In addition, the Road Commissioner manages a crew of 3 members here in Pownal which includes an Equipment Operator, Laborer and Equipment Operator/Mechanic.

The mission of the Public Works Department is to plan and to use our resources wisely; to improve the quality of life through maintenance and protection of the Town’s infrastructure and natural resources. The Public Works Department will strive to be a respected, well-managed and financially prudent department. “Public Works in the Public Interest.”
